“Where should we go for our engagement session?” This question often comes up at consults with couples. Thankfully I have an engagement session brainstorm questionnaire that I send each of my couples to help prepare and suggest locations for their engagement session. It asks lots of questions: how they met, their proposal story, things they love about each other, things they love to do together, if they have any pets, if they already have any locations in mind for their session… etc. etc. etc.
One of my favorite things to do at an engagement session is visit a place or do an activity that helps tell a couple’s love story. So when Hannah and Tristan’s engagement session brainstorm survey was returned with a few different ideas of romantic locations that hold a special place in their hearts…I jumped at the opportunity to meet them for a ride on the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry. Hannah’s job has required her to commute on the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry, creating daily distance between her and Tristan.
We met at 7:45 at the Edmonds Ferry Terminal and walked on the ferry. It was super overcast, with enough break in the clouds to see the rising sun bouncing off the Olympic Mountain Range in the distance. I love shooting on the ferry (or anyplace, really) at sunrise when things aren’t super busy. There aren’t as many people to work around and everyone feels so much more comfortable with learning posing because there isn’t an audience.
At one point during our session Hannah pointed out two chairs near the passenger load/unload area. “Those are the chairs I would sit in on the way home to Tristan every night after work.” So they sat in those very chairs.
We ended their session on the Edmonds beach with their sweet new Shiba Inu puppy; Haru. He’s sweet, snuggly, and has the cutest fox-like ears. I loved that Hannah and Tristan brought their new fur-baby along for their engagement session!
Tristan proposed to Hannah last year while dining at Canlis overlooking Seattle, Lake Union and the Cascade Mountain Range. They’re getting married this July at Thornewood Castle and I’m *SO* looking forward to their wedding!!!
